My family has a bunch of senior dogs and cats. Then, the rest of the furry family is made up of active pets who walk in the forest with me every day or spend their day running around and digging holes in the backyard.

The senior pets need regular cleaning.  Some of the elders already live with incontinence.  So, at least 3-4 times a day I have to clean them and their areas.  Then, the youngsters always bring a lot of dirt from outside.

Needless to say, I use a lot or wet wipes.  But, I stopped buying them.  Although there are a lot of new eco-friendly 99% biodegradable wet wipes out there, the cost of buying this stuff every week was money thrown away.

I recently came across a very good recipe for DIY dog wipes that are eco-friendly and very cheap to make.  Plus, all the ingredients are available at any local store.

I use these homemade dog paw wipes to clean their paws, their bodies (for those with incontinence) I now use homemade dog bath wipes, and diy dog grooming wipes for the outside of their ears and around their eyes to get the dry stuff off their faces.  It is all perfectly safe.  but, I do not use these homemade dog wipes on their eyes directly, and I also don’t wipe the inside of their ears with these wipes.  I hear it is safe to do so, but I stick to the outside.

Here’s the video.  Dr Jones is a veterinarian.  He proposes a load of alternative options for pet parents for the health of our pets.  I follow him for his knowledge.  With such a large family of pets, I need this information to protect my pack of cats and dogs.

Now, in the video, you’ll notice that Dr Jones uses paper towels to make his eco-friendly, DIY wet wipes.  I chose to use old cotton white t-shirts my human family no longer uses.  I just cut the t-shirts into small squares of about 15cx x 15cm.  I also bought a bunch of cotton kitchen towels for the same reason.  They are thin enough and work just fine.  When done, I throw them into the washing machine and, voilá, I can reuse them again.

Here’s a bunch of recipes for eco-friendly homemade detergents you can refer to to make your own DIY dog paw wipes.  They are the perfect solution for DIY antibacterial wipes for dogs, especially as they grow older and their hygiene requires more attention.
