Part 2 of Yesterday’s exciting swim at one of the reserve dams with Khanyisa and her new family.
The afternoon continued in a relaxed fashion, with most of the elephants dusting themselves with sand on top of their wet bodies, to help cake in the natural sunscreen and bug protector coating!
Mambo and Zindoga started up a playful jostle which being around water seems to instigate for some reason. While it may be entertaining for us to watch, the rest of the herd tend to take no notice and carry on with each on their own little mission, whether in or out of the water.
Khanyisa always stays amongst the females, all of which are very attentive to both her and Timisa.
Once they all left the waters, all five of the herd bulls came towards Adine – a great moment to see them standing beside one another like that.
They continued onwards to spend their afternoon’s foraging. Godknows got a delivery of fresh milk for Khanyisa’s 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock feedings.
