Khanyisa and the Herd – A Peaceful Morning Walk

Nothing beats spending mornings with Khanyisa and her new family, the Jabulani Herd.

Khanyisa is becoming increasingly comfortable with her new family, and trust is slowly building between her and the cows of the herd, especially.

Adine got some lovely and lengthy footage of them walking together. She points out during the walk that she has noticed there is a certain spiderweb between two trees that they walk around every time they pass it, to make sure they don’t break it.

Limpopo has been trying so hard for Khanyisa to try suckle from her teat (even though she is not producing milk). Khanyisa gets a lot of comfort from the action of suckling. We will continue to supply her milk formula until she is weaned (at approximately 4 – 5 years old).

It was a relaxed morning, everyone got along, and the walk was calm and peaceful, with the birds singing every elephant footstep along the way.
