In our latest integration update, you will see that Khanyisa was excited as ever to meet her herd!
She spent time suckling from Lundi in the early morning, (watch out for a sweet eye-scratch from Khanyisa), and then had a great morning with the herd in the bush.
Timisa (the youngest of the herd, and a rescued orphan too) and Khanyisa share many adorable moments between them (as usual!), Timisa is exceptionally gentle with her new baby sister. Limpopo, however, often oversteps her boundaries with the little elephant.
Khanyisa spent lots of time with Bubi, Kumbura and Tokwe (the matriarch) while they foraged, always watching and learning as she goes.
At bottle time (she is enjoying longer hours in the wild with the herd now, so we are providing her milk while she is out), Khanyisa caused a bit of a stir, she let out an excited baby elephant screech of excitement, causing the herd to run over anxiously to her side. Reply, her junior carer that was giving her bottle to her, was a bit overwhelmed, but he kept calm, and they soon settled. Unfortunately, we don’t have footage of the moments to show, but we thought we would share about it anyway!
Khanyisa seems to be settling into the longer routine in her mornings, and her relationships are strengthening by the day!
