Another busy morning for Khanyisa as she started her day off with a little family chat with Limpopo, Pisa (both who are the matriarch Tokwe’s daughters) and Timisa who like Khanyisa, is an orphan that was introduced to the Herd in 2016. Soon Tokwe joined the gathering.
Limpopo and Khanyisa were seen bonding through the fence just before the Jabulani Herd started heading out to the reserve for the day. As the Herd left, Kumbura, another orphaned elephant that joined the Herd in 2009, came close to the fence to take a better peek of her future sister.
Khanyisa turned to enjoy a bottle of milk with her carer Godknows and once finished, she was off to explore the stables where Jabulani came to visit again. But she showed more interest in her future family’s dung than she did in Jabulani, and he soon decided to return to the herd.
Then it was time for lots of fun in her new playground, where she helped our lockdown team clean the stables and took time to tackle a bale or three of lucerne, with Lammie by her side. We loved the sweet moment with her and Blessmore, one of the elephant carers at Jabulani, look out for it at the end of the video clip!
