In the centre of Lisbon, where KindBunch is headquartered, we have Monsanto, Portugal’s very own central park. This enchanting forest is filled with life, and hedgehogs are one of the most common inhabitants along with the red squirrel.
There are kilometres of paths you can take to appreciate the quiet of the forest, and walk for hours without seeing another human deep into the forest. Unfortunately, there is also a main road that cuts this forest bang in the middle, and it gets busy in the morning.
This means we see a lot hedgehogs injured by cars and cyclists often. Knowing how to handle a hedgehog is imperative. The country does have good rescues for exotic animals like hedgehogs, but knowing how to provide the initial first aid is imperative to save lives.
So, educational videos like this one are a treasure. If people have the know-how, they are likelier to act when they find an injured animal. And this saves lives.
